Josee Aumiller, LCPC

she/her/hers

Did you know that the relationship you have with your therapist is responsible for over 50% of the progress you make in counseling!? I mean, makes sense - right? Who wants to open up to someone they don't feel a connection with? Our connection might take time, and that's okay- as long as it happens. Whether you work with me or someone else, please make sure you find someone around whom you can feel truly comfortable. I think for therapy to be the most effective, you have to treat it like home base. Think about when you played tag as a child: you're running and running, but the second you're on base, nobody can catch you: you are safe, you can be "off", you can catch your breath. It is my goal that our sessions will feel like base: place where you can be "off" and you can let your unfiltered thoughts and emotions trickle out as we work together on how to piece them together. You don't have to be put together, you don't have to be perfect, you don't have to have all the answers. You can be your unfiltered, open self and see that person is good enough.

Others describe me as outgoing, wild, and authentic. I don't put up a front and pretend that life is perfect: because it's not; but, we can still make it in to something good. I'll occasionally disclose with you about struggles that I have been through, so you can remember you aren't the only one who has been in a situation that feels impossible. Things do get better if you're willing to work hard; and chances are if you're reading this, you're ready to do that work. I'd love to do it with you.
